Upcoming Changes at Sarah Lynn Design in 2014

Over the past three years my business has grown steadily. I have had the pleasure of working with some incredible organizations, both small and large. In 2013 I moved our office location from Eau Claire, WI to Minneapolis, MN with the desire to grow further and build my team.

In just a few short months I have met and collaborated with some very talented folks in the Twin Cities. I’ve also had the chance to learn some things about myself and where I want to take my business.

It’s funny how a change of surroundings and circumstances can alter your entire outlook on things.

I’ve taken a step back to look at the type of work I really thrive doing and most simply, enjoy. The digital world continues to change so quickly. It’s impossible to stay up to speed with everything and also take time to enjoy life.

I have the strong desire to focus my design efforts more narrowly and really get to know what works and what doesn’t for a specific industry. That is why I have decided to focus my efforts specifically in the travel and hospitality niche.

Travel & Hospitality Focused

So what does that mean for you?

Well, if your a current client, absolutely nothing. We love you! You’ve given us an incredible start and have allowed us to learn, improve and grow.

Why travel and hospitality? Over the last two years specifically, I have had the opportunity of working with a few clients in this industry. On a personal level, I have very much enjoyed learning about different areas of the globe. There certainly is never a dull moment when it comes to culture, food & discovering unknown places. Throughout my life I was lucky enough to have parents who loved to travel, so I too, picked up the so called “travel bug”.

Beyond my personal interests, I have a colleague to thank for introducing me to a few wonderful travel folks. Christine, over at Sterling Writer, has very much influenced my decision to focus my efforts. If you are in need of an incredible travel writer, I highly suggest getting in touch with her!

Aside from focusing my design work to one particular industry, growth was another big question on my plate this past year. After much consideration and back and forth I have decided to remain a solopreneur and continue to partner with talented developers, writers and so forth. Doing so allows me to provide the best of the best and only when my clients absolutely need it.

Over the next year you can expect to see some changes on sarahlynndesign.com to communicate these decisions a bit more clearly.

Remote Office Location

As of April 1st, 2014 I will no longer be working out of our Northeast Minneapolis studio location. SLD will be a 100% remote design studio.

I look forward to what 2014 has to offer and thank everyone who has supported my business over the years. I could not have come this far without each and every one of you. Here’s to trying something a bit different this year!

Best,

Sarah Hicks
